Step-by-step guide to using the calculator
What to enter in input fields?
- Total number of emails sent
Enter the total number of emails you have sent during your email campaign. This could be the total emails for a specific period. (e.g., monthly, campaign duration).
- Cost of email marketing campaign
Enter the total cost of your email marketing campaign, including expenses for tools, content creation, design, automation, and any other related costs.
- Average open rate
Enter the percentage of recipients who opened your email. For example, if 500 out of 1,000 emails were opened, the open rate would be 50%. Enter the percentage, not a decimal (e.g., enter “50” for 50%).
- Average click-through rate (CTR)
Enter the percentage of people who clicked on a link or CTA in your email. For example, if 200 out of 1,000 recipients clicked on the email’s link, your CTR would be 20%. Again, use a percentage (e.g., “20”).
- Total conversion rate
Enter the percentage of people who completed the desired action (purchase, sign-up, etc.) after clicking on the email’s link. For instance, if 5% of people who clicked went on to make a purchase, enter “5”.
- The average value of a conversion
Enter the average revenue generated per conversion (sale, sign-up, etc.). For example, if a conversion (sale or sign-up) brings in $50, you would enter “50”.
What can you understand from the results?
Cost per email
This shows how much you're spending to acquire each potential subscriber. A lower cost means more efficient spending.
Total revenue
This tells you how much revenue your email campaign generated. It factors in the open rate, CTR, conversion rate, and average value per conversion.
Total Profit
The net profit from the campaign is found by subtracting the total cost from the total revenue. For example, if your revenue was $1,000 and the cost was $500, your profit would be $500.
Revenue per email
This indicates the average revenue generated by each email you sent. It helps measure the effectiveness of your emails in terms of revenue generation.
Return on investment
It shows how much you earned for every dollar spent on the campaign. For example, If you get an ROI of 10,000%, that means you received $100 for every $1 you spent on this campaign.
Conversions to break even
This tells you the significant amount of conversions you must have to obtain zero profit but no loss.
